I hope that you all had a great time with the April Fool’s Day event that we pulled off. We learned from last year and added a nofun flag for those of you that wanted to turn it off. We had a great time watching the chaos!
We have been very busy with Live-events and I hope that you have all had a chance to jump in and enjoy the hard work that the guys have been working on.
It was alright, still though.. if only it were permanent.

12 days later, we still see shouts and people asking how to do
This only means that it was a good joke !
Seeing giant gnomes everywhere was also really fun

Any update on the elf models, Clint?
I haven’t been on much lately, so haven’t experienced the live events, but I’ve been very excited about all the relatively large-scale changes being introduced in the next few patches.
Still.. it’d be nice to see the prototypes and concept art for the new elf models!

I think the concept was great, but the time it was ‘active’ was far too short. =(
precisely BECAUSE there was a flag to turn it off, it would have been nice to leave it in, perhaps just with a re-randomization of the combinations every 60 minutes as something that could be had fun with for a good while. People who didnt log in between noon and 8pm on the 1st didnt even get to see anything at all.
Personally I think that adding flags in the eqclient.ini file as ‘easter eggs’ to enable “past” april1 content would be a great addition. You could have lines like
ILikeStickFigures=1
turns on stickfigure mode from 2 years ago, and
ILikeGriegsEnd=1
turn on the clientside randomization of what each race / gender renders as on your client. Since it’s all client side, it could be left in as a fun easteregg for future generations =)
