A goodbye post from Rashere…

It’s amazing how fast time can pass.  It feels like just a few days ago when I first walked through the doors here but now, more than 5 years later, it’s time for me to move on.  I’ll be leaving SOE at the end of the month and wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you, the EverQuest players, for your dedication and friendship over the years.

Looking back over everything that EverQuest has done in the last 5 years is enough to make my head swim, but the one constant throughout that time has always been the fans.  Between fan faires, community summits, and the forums, I’ve met more dedicated and knowledgeable players than I could ever count and many of you have become good friends.  That level of interaction with players is something you don’t often get to experience in this industry and I’m certainly going to miss it.

EverQuest has always been a pioneer in the MMO industry and it has been a distinct honor to be part of that legacy and work with the wonderful team behind the game.  I leave EverQuest in the very capable hands of Ryan “Rytan” Barker and I have no doubt that he’ll continue its success long into the future.

Thanks you all for the great memories and I hope to run into everyone again in the future.

You will be sorely missed Travis. You’ve done so much for the game!

Over the last year I’ve been really active on the board and reading all the dev responses. From reading Rashere’s posts I was convinced that he was a great developer and truely was dedicated to improving and continuing this game. Rashere presence on the team to me ensured that this game was going forward in the right direction. You will be missed.

I have gotten to know Rytan a little in much the same way, through the forums, and I am impressed with him. He knows his lore and his help with the mage pets was awesome. So the future is still bright for EQ.

=( You’ll be missed. I always enjoyed talking with you and hashing out issues in betas and the like. Good luck where you go, even though you did call my kilt a skirt in those dev chats!

Thanks for putting your heart and soul into making a great game for us to play. You’ll be missed.

The road ahead is beautiful!

Rashere -

Thanks for all the patience and time you had while working on issues i always brought up with you.

I wish you success and happiness wherever you go!

Good luck Rashere, we will miss you!

The Swampfunk will miss his friend; Rashere.

Fate is a weird thing, it always works out.

Best of wishes on the move Rash and thanks for all the improvements done.

I have always admired Rashere’s work. His foresight and attention to detail have made EQ as close to a perfect gaming experience as I have seen. I suspect his future endeavors will be as well designed and inviting as he has made EQ. I’ve put together a short collection of highlights of things he has changed in EQ, for the better.

You will be missed. it won’t be the same with out you.

thankyou for all your hard work! /cheer

Sad to see you go, GL wherever Real Life takes you !

I’ve been in a guild long enough to know when a player leaves, that during all that time there was bonding its really sad to see a person leave.

Now I’m not for one to say that you (Rashere) and me (Darkmortis) have had time to bond (lol) but yes it will be sad to see you go.

Time definitely flies by, just thinking about 5 years occured to me when I first was guilded into one; Nihilist Dynasty……which was precisely 5 years ago

Good Luck!!!!

Good luck to you sir, and wherever life/fate should lead you, I hope it leads to somewhere good.

Good luck Rashere. You attempted to be fair and get things done as well as you could.

Hope your next venture is a good one.
