Perhaps for all those on blue servers its a great bonus to have them but i can tell you it has pretty much tossed a huge rotten egg to Zek. Those of us that live for PVP are now faced with players either solo duo or full grouped with multiple high end merc's healing and tanking and generally tipping the PVP balance way out of whack. For example should i decide to hire a merc cleric to accompany my monk and go out ganking well theres not really much a solo pvp player can do to stop me..if they decide to attack my merc im on their back attacking them till they turn to me or die then my merc has the chance to heal me away...for those of us in the PVP community this is considered very poor form. I pride myself on going up against another player 1 on 1 without a huge stacked deck to see who the better player is...all the mercs have done is to end that era and make the PVP servers just another blue server with dueling rights...shame shame soe. Perhaps even though we are a small percentage of the players on EQ the devs might consider altered rules for merc's on zek or removing them completely. I dont really see any problem with the mercs being used in PVM but i for one would like to see them be unable to assist in any fashion any player engaged in PVP.
